Hello, I am Elyse Lake.
I am an experienced native English, Cambridge qualified EFL teacher and Sorbonne qualified French and Spanish teacher.
I discovered a passion for languages at a young age which led me to obtain a Modern Foreign Languages degree at the Sorbonne University of Paris and The Autonoma University of Barcelona. I then spent five years living in France where I perfected my French. I have taught in the UK, Australia, France and online.
I later completed CELTA and have just finished a level 7 TESOL postgraduate diploma. I now have over 5 years experience teaching languages for a wide range of purposes and to people of different ages and nationalities.
My goal is to listen to clients’ individual learning goals and create stimulating and engaging lessons to meet these needs. For me, languages are creative, alive, fun and open up a whole world of communication.
I translate languages with enthusiasm and an eye for detail, always seeking to communicate between two languages accurately. I have translated professional documents on a wide range of subjects, from climate change to architecture.

1-1 Tuition
Personalised, private lessons online or face to face in the Brighton and Hove area (depending on availability and travel time). Lessons are tailor made to achieve each client's unique goals and respond to individual requirements.
If lessons are booked in a block of 4 the cost per lesson is £29 p/h.
£12 per lesson
Group Tuition
Dynamic, interactive small group French and Spanish classes of various levels for minimum of 4 people.
Six week lesson commitment (1st lesson as a taster - no obligation to commit).

Business Tuition
Lessons are provided to respond to a business' specific requirements, focusing on language for business and topics such as cross-cultural communication and appropriate protocol.
If lessons are booked in a block of 4 the cost per lesson is £40 p/h.

Exam Prep
Lessons are provided to prepare students for KET, PET, Cambridge and IELTS exams. Tuition for French and Spanish GCSE and A-level is also available.
If lessons are booked in a block of 4 the cost per lesson is £35 p/h.

Translation
Efficient and accurate translation services are offered. I have a degree in translation and experience translating from French and Spanish into English for clients such as architecture firms, magazines and university research bodies.

Proofreading
With native level English and an eye for detail, I am experienced in proof reading documents in English such as CVs, letters of motivation and job or university applications.
Rates are calculated according to length and complexity of text.
